The Citan, which was added to the commercial vehicle division of Mercedes-Benz in 2012, was developed together with the Kangoo by Renault. As a classic high-roof station wagon, it functions as a delivery van for the city or as a tourer in the car version as a family transporter. The first touchscreen-controlled infotainment system at Mercedes was to be created for this vehicle. Further requirements: Complete technical and visual integration into the existing cockpit of the Mercedes Citan including adaptation to the existing antenna technology.
The first series infotainment system with touchscreen at Mercedes with full integration into the vehicle environment, such as adapting the GUI to the LED of the controls. In addition, the surface design was adapted to the interior. In addition to a state-of-the-art tuner with digital radio (DAB+), touch-enabled full-screen navigation was implemented on “only” a 3.5-inch screen diagonal and TMC Pro. In addition, the existing rear view camera was integrated and the system was certified Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad. The development took place in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz and delivery took place directly to Renault’s production lines in Maubiege/France.
